The Wendy’s Barbecue Cheeseburger is one of the limited edition sandwiches brought back alongside the Sawesome Bacon Classic and the Peppercorn Mushroom Melt. This sandwich, while mostly unappealing to me at first, is actually surprisingly delightful and is something different compared to Wendy’s classic Dave burgers and the Baconators.

A quarter-pound* of fresh, never-frozen beef, crispy fried onions and American cheese, covered in sweet and smoky barbecue sauce all on a toasted bun. This stampede of flavor is the best barbecue hamburger in the west–or north or south or east for that matter. – Wendy’s
This Wendy’s burger comes with pickles, fried onion tanglers, barbeque sauce, two slices of cheese and one large patty. Combining these ingredients sounds very strange, as most don’t think about putting barbecue sauce on their burger. Alongside this, Wendy’s fried onions are new, so their taste has not been well examined. These two ingredients, alongside the pickles for some extra flavor, really pack a punch. While on the sandwich I ate, I did not receive the fried onions T_T, I know that they are quite delicious if fresh.
This burger far exceeded my expectations, as I expected either a boring burger, as I have been bored with barbecue sauce quite recently, or a burger with a taste too strong. This delivered the good middle-ground that was needed on that cold Saturday night.
